About the Course

The Preparatory Mathematics and Statistics Course is designed for students entering directly into Level 4 (second year) undergraduate programmes at Westminster International University in Tashkent.

The course aims to strengthen students' mathematical and statistical foundations and prepare them for quantitative modules taught at Level 4. The course provides intensive instruction in key mathematical and statistical concepts frequently used in business, economics, finance, and social science disciplines. Emphasis is placed on problem-solving, data analysis, interpretation of results, and the application of quantitative methods in academic contexts.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

Demonstrate proficiency in fundamental mathematical concepts required for Level 4 study.

Apply algebraic and numerical methods to solve quantitative problems.

Interpret and analyse data using descriptive statistical techniques.

Calculate and interpret measures of central tendency and dispersion.

Apply probability concepts and basic statistical inference.

Use quantitative reasoning to solve business and economic problems.

Develop confidence in handling numerical information and statistical data.

Attendance Requirements

Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes and actively participate in learning activities. Regular attendance is strongly recommended to ensure successful completion of the programme.
